![]() In fact, all major producers of wind turbine generators have included towers with heights beyond 160m in their catalogues. In 2016, more than 2GW of towers higher than 120m were installed and it is expected this will grow to more than 10GW a year within 5-10 years (more than 15% of the total wind energy market). Towers with heights over 120m are now a reality in all markets, reaching already heights up to 178m in Europe. NABRALIFT, THE CRANE-LESS SELF-ERECTING TOWER Nabrawind Technologies has developed two solutions to break these logistic and installation barriers: a self-erecting tower and a modular blade joint, both simple to integrate in all existing and future wind turbines. As a consequence of this, the transport and installation ofmassive blades and towers becomes one of the great challenges in the renewable energy industry over the next decade. So far no faults or CELs and no leaks anywhere. The latest generation of wind turbines announced by the leading OEMs will shift wind turbines to rotor diameters of 150m and blade tip heights above 240m. I do have the car on the road now and the 5spd is working well and after 4 tries I finally got the injection timing set. So to sum up my findings: I was not adjusting the cables properly, and I was trying to find gears where gears didn't exist due to a misleading part. I was trying to find Reverse under 5th because the knob I received showed a 3 Up - 3 Down pattern, instead of the VW 4 Up - 2 Down pattern. The shift knob that I was given with the transmission was NOT from a VW. When testing the shifter in the vehicle I was able to get 1st-5th with no problem but could no longer get Reverse.Īfter some head scratching and the decision to just keep moving forward I received my new black shift knob/boot (the one that came with the transmission was grey) and I noticed that something didn't match between the supplied shift knob and the new knob (other than color). I reassembled the shift tower into the transmission and re-adjusted the cables with the knowledge of where the L lock was supposed to be. I was setting the cables with the shift tower too low). Nothing looked damaged or out of place so I function tested the shift tower and noticed that what I believed was the "home" position with the L lock was actually higher than what I was trying to set it at (i.e. I ended up pulling the shift tower assembly out of the transmission and inspecting it as well as taking a look down inside the transmission. I don't see how working on the 5th gear end would have an effect on 2nd gear but it is more data. I reinstalled the 2 bolts and spring washers and the outer selector ring and then buttoned the transmission back up. After several hours of work and a broken puller I gave up without ever having gotten the 5th gear selector "gear" off of the end of the shaft. **Full disclosure, before I installed the transmission I did attempt to upgrade 5th gear to a lower ratio. ![]() I'm already too far in to back out now, but if I have to pull this transmission out again I don't want to put any more time into hooking things up or burn up any more 1-time use bolts. I then disconnected the cables entirely and manually tried to place the shift tower on the transmission into 2nd gear but it will not go in.ĭoes anyone have any thoughts? I don't know if this is related to the "L" lock no longer functioning or if it is a sign of something much bigger. I tried adjusting the cable again but same result. I got into the car and removed the shifter lock pin and tested out the shifter to see how it felt in each gear and noticed that I could not seem to select 2nd gear. I tried simply holding the mechanism down and adjusting the cables which initially seemed to work. It will turn up and slide in as expected but when I release pressure on the shift tower it will not stay down. I now have the transmission in the car and I was trying to adjust the shifter cables but now the "L" lock no longer functions. In the process of lubricating things and moving the transmission around I moved the shift tower assembly into multiple gear locations (I did not intentionally check for engagement in each position) with no issue. I bought the donor from a wrecked ~2000 New Beetle ~151k with transmission code ERJ.īefore installing the transmission I tested the functionality of the "L" lock on the shift tower on the transmission and it worked properly. To make a long story short, I am in the middle of a 01M to 02J swap on my 03 Golf. ![]()
